I have patched my ye since about 6pm today (2hrs ago), and i have no pain, blinking or any bother from it, its great relief. If it eases your problem, then I would leave it on until you see the optician. Hope he helps you with this.

Leave it on most of the time till the appointment if it suits... absolutely no chance of developing any amblyopia.

(not while driving: an unauthorised patch would not be well-regarded, in the event of an accident.)

It would be an interesting and possibly very useful experiment to swap the patch, unless you have very strong dominance in one eye.

If you are comfortable with *either* eye patched that effectively proves it is a pure binocular status problem, not a residual refractive or other problem with just one eye (the one you've *currently* got patched.)

If no better answer emerges, another long-term option might be a clear contact lens with a black pupil: effective an almost undetectable, especially if you have a darker iris colour.

Don't wait until Monday. My suggestion is go to the hospital A&E now or tomorrow!
