Minus and Plus isn't the same at all.
Think of a thermometer, at - 25 degrees or + 25 degrees
- is a concave lens for distance vision , + is a convex lens that magnifies.
Neither power is strong enough to make any difference anyway, and normally is never prescribed.
I think those were + 2.50 you saw in the drugstores, they don't make + 0.25, because it isn't strong enough to make a difference.

The "+" that you find at drugstores isn't going to work for you. You are "-" myopic Which means you have trouble seeing distance the "+" is for people who have trouble seeing near. Your best and only option is to get prescription glasses.

Obviously + and - aren't the same. The difference between the two is .5. Think of it as a number line. -.25 is .25 to LEFT of zero, +.25 is .25 to the RIGHT of zero.
-.25 ----- 0 ----- +.25
