What does the following mean on my eyeglass prescription (this is the 1st time I've had to get glasses):

OD: Sph:+0.50 Cyl:Sph. Add: +1.75
OS: Sph: +1.75 Cyl: -1.25 Axis: 088 Add: +1.75

R.eye:+0.50DSph. L.eye:+0.50DSph.+1.25DCyl Axis178...It means you are having +Spherical power in right eye and +Compound power in left eye.Cylindrical indicates astigmatism. You are hyperopic(farsighted). This is for distant use.You need further +1.75 Spherical for near work called addition.Addition increases as age increases. So your near power R.eye:+2.25DSph. L.eye:+2.25DSph.+1.25DCyl Axis178. D means Diopter,unit in which power of ophthalmic lenses measured.
