I forgot I had them in and within I think 3 minutes of swimming I rememeberd and took them out and threw them out immediately. Should I be ok? I opened my eyes under water and knew I still had them in, I took them out immediately so im hoping I should be alright. By the way I wear soft contact lenses.

You should NOT be swimming with your contact lenses in. Period. It is absolutely NOT a good idea and you are just asking to get an eye infection. Your biofinity contact lenses are soft contact lenses. They absorb things like the chlorine and little "critters" in the swimming pool water. Do you think it is a good idea to walk around with chlorine slowly being released from your soft contact lens like a sponge? Chlorine IS a chemical and it does not belong in your eyes. You also should wait 2 hours after you are done swimming before you put your contact lenses back in. Because it takes about that long for all the chemicals from the swimming pool to be totally drained out of your eyes. Either wear your glasses, get prescription swimming goggles (they actually are pretty reasonable price-wise), or wear nothing and be blind. I was extremely near-sighted before I got LASIK 3 years ago and I went to water parks and went swimming MANY times without wearing anything. The friends I was with knew I couldn't see any of the signs so they just helped me out. No problem. My mom has done the same thing; she also is extremely near-sighted but she just doesn't wear anything when she goes swimming.

You threw the lenses away so you eliminated the chance of having a problem.

It's when the lenses are kept in your eyes for several hours after swimming that problems can develop , because bacteria from the water loves to grow between the lens and the cornea and are trapped there. Removing the lenses allows your tears to wash away any bacteria from your eyes.

You are safe.....

Throw away your contacts now. They have absorbed the bacterias present is water which is dangerous for your cornea. It is lead to corneal abrasion and and other infections.

Get a new pair of contacts and use goggles next time.
