Contact Lense Questions?

So this is a multi-part question. I got contact lenses for the first time in my life today (I've been wearing glasses for like 12 years). My questions are...
Are your eyes usually blood shot & irritated when you first get them? I expected some irritation.. but I didn't expect my eyes to get so blood shot. If so.. is there any kind of eye drops out there that will help sooth it (my optometrist gave me some but my eyes are still irritated)?
This part is for ladies... I have nails and though it wasn't easy putting them in, I never expected it to be so hard taking them out... any advice?

Hi, congratulations!!,.With contacts your vision will be much better, wider and clearer, you'll see.

For blood shot don't use Visine red eyes, you can check here there is many complains about it.

Maybe you got your eyes irritated because you are using them too much hours, you have to increase the hours with the days, first days, 2 hours, after 4 and so on.

Second, you have to got your eyes moisturized with some tears like Bausch & Lomb

(for me the best) or Alcon. Always use good products for your contacts it;s a huge difference. And all those all in one products like Renu aren't the best really. Try to use Aosept for conserving at night and Polycleans II (Alcon) for cleaning,it's the best in the market. Don't forget to remove proteins with unizame every week. I tell you all this, because if you skip some of this things, you probaby will have irritation and red shot, and normally a contacts user must have the eyes ok.

If you feel irritated now i give you a contact users advice:

Use a cup (those small ones that comes with the eye wash and put saline solution and wash your eyes with this.It's super refreshing and you can do many times a day if you need.

Last i recommend the use of a hydrating gel as Celluvisc, for the night , when you go to sleep, that's more hydrating then normal tears.

And about the nails, sorry to say you have to cut at last the finger that you use for put and take out the contacts, it's very common breaking the contact with the nail.

1, yes, it's perfectly normal for you eyes to become bloodshot and irritated for a few days after you first get contacts. it's just your body's natural reaction to having a foreign object on your eyeball. the first few days you have your contacts, you should only wear them for about 4-6 hours, then take them out. don't sleep with them in either.



2. as for a cleanser solution... i use Opti-Free multi-purpose solution. you can get it pretty much everywhere. don't get plain saline solution because that stuff just rinses your lenses, it doesn't clean them.



3. for removal, even though you said it's for the ladies, here's what i do(my nails go past the tips of my fingers too)

using my right hand(which is more comfortable for me),

starting on the inside of the eye(closer to the nose), i slide my middle finger to the outside of the eye, pressing against the lens a little but and push the lens(further away from the nose) and kinda pinch the lens between my middle finger and thumb. after it's pinched, keep ahold of it and pull it away from your eye.

yes it is quite normal that ur eyes get red and sensative. it depends alot on the pollution if u r going to city center and other polluted areas u must accept red eyes. it also depends on the hours u use them. try not to use it more than 10 hours a day. at first ur eyes are not used to this external thing and are more sensative but u'll get used to it don't worry. something else, if u work with computer alot u will have more problem cause monitors dry the eyes and that the most important problem of lens. (drying the eyes). there is a drop for soothing the eyes but unfortunately i've forgotten the name. i used it at the beginning but now i don't use it anymore and i get red eyes very rarely.

about putting them in it is really difficult i know. don't forget u should put them in before making up. but u'll get used to it to. i usu stand in front of a mirror get the lens by my index finger and look straight in the mirror then open my eyes with the help of my other hand and put it in. but u know i think taking it out is even more difficult the first day it took me 10 minutes to take it out. u know there are two ways for taking them out. 1. u just put ur index finger on the lens and try to drag it out of the corner of ur eye (the outside part) but i can never use this method. 2. u pinch it by ur thumb and finger it works better if ur fingers r completely dry. after sometime u can put it in and take it out in a flash of time even without mirror or anything. by the way after putting them look in different direction and then close ur eyes and rob it gently. it helps.

don't forget to wash you hands before putting them in or taking them out. eye is very sensative and can make problems for you not taking care of it properly. and try not to use tissue paper for drying ur hand before putting them in cause the naps might remain under the lens and hurt ur eyes.

it is really funny after using lens for a while if u put on ur glasses it seems strange.
